Privacy Policy for PhotoDedup
Last updated: December 24, 2025
Our Promise: PhotoDedup is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your photos never leave your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your photos or personal data.
1. Introduction
Welcome to PhotoDedup! We ("AZ Computing Ltd", "we", "us", "our") are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how PhotoDedup handles your information when you use our iOS application.
By using PhotoDedup, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
2. Our Privacy-First Approach
PhotoDedup is built from the ground up with privacy in mind:
- 100% On-Device Processing: All photo analysis, duplicate detection, and AI processing happens entirely on your iPhone using Apple's native Vision framework. Your photos are never uploaded to any server.
- No Cloud Services: We do not operate cloud servers that process or store your photos.
- No Data Collection: We do not collect, track, or store any personal information or usage data.
- No Third-Party Analytics: We do not use analytics services that track your behavior within the app.
3. Information We Access (But Don't Collect)
To function, PhotoDedup requires access to your photo library. Here's how we handle this access:
- Photo Library Access: The app reads your photos locally to detect duplicates. Photos are processed on your device and never transmitted elsewhere.
- Photo Metadata: We analyze metadata (date, size, resolution) locally to help identify duplicates and recommend which photos to keep.
- Visual Fingerprints: We create visual fingerprints using Apple's Vision framework. These fingerprints exist only in your device's memory during scanning and are not stored or transmitted.
4. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary for the app to function:
- Subscription Data: If you purchase PhotoDedup Pro, subscription status is managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information or personal billing details.
- Crash Reports (Optional): If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with app developers through iOS settings, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with us. These do not contain personal information or photo data.
5. How We Use Information
The limited information we may receive is used solely for:
- Providing and maintaining the PhotoDedup service
- Managing your subscription status
- Improving app stability through anonymized crash reports (if you opt in)
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Period.
The only external service involved is Apple's App Store for subscription management, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
7. Data Security
Since your photos and data remain on your device, your data security depends on your device's security:
- We recommend using a passcode or Face ID/Touch ID on your iPhone
- Keep your iOS updated to the latest version for security patches
- All processing uses Apple's secure native frameworks
8. Data Retention
We do not retain your data because we do not collect it. When you delete the app, all app-related data is removed from your device.
Photos you delete through PhotoDedup are moved to the "Recently Deleted" album in your Photos app, where they remain for 30 days before permanent deletion (as per Apple's standard behavior).
9. Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data, there is no personal data for us to provide, modify, or delete. Your photos and data are entirely under your control on your device.
If you have questions about how your data is handled, please contact us.
10. Children's Privacy
PhotoDedup does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since we collect no personal data, the app is safe for users of all ages.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
Your continued use of PhotoDedup after any changes signifies your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA. However, since we do not collect, sell, or share personal information, these rights are effectively already honored by our privacy-first design.
